All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. May he shower his infinite peace and blessings upon His Beloved Messenger, Muhammad p.b.u.h, upon his noble family, his companions and upon those who follow the true path until the Day of Judgement.
Hadith Three: Purity
"Purity is half of faith." (Muslim)
We should heed to this Hadith in particular regarding general purity. As Muslims we need to be clean whether it is from Najasat Haqeeqi like blood, urine and stool from Najasat-Hukmi like Hadath (in need of Wudhu) and Janabah (in need of Ghusl). Also we must appear outwardly clean. Hence, we ought to be both pure and clean as was the noble habit of our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him.
Islam puts a lot of emphasis on personal hygiene and cleanliness to the extent that one of the first revelations that out beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, received was "And keep your clothing clean and stay away from filth." (74:4-5)
Islam has taught mankind purification in such detail even a small percentage of which, in comparison, is not found in any other religion. Unfortunately, it is we Muslims who are neglectful and careless regarding general purity and cleanliness. May Allah, the All Mighty, give us the ability to uphold the true teachings of Islam.
